and we answer the questions
Hernan P. Nadal played the position of
New Media Manager for Greenpeace Argentina .
is a person deeply involved in Internet use in dissemination of the purpose of this organization, as evidenced by the creation and management of community onlineI-Go (first Greenpeace web2.0 platform) for the 2006 International Whale campaign, the development of GreenSMS first mobile platform to Greenpeace (" Best Messaging Application: Public Sector / Not for profit. "2006, awarded by" 160 characters. SMS & Mobile Association), and the design and implementation of the online campaign "Vote for the Forests Act," which garnered more one million signatures in two months and worked with the approval of the same.
Q. - How long have you are on Twitter? Do you remember why you chose to enter? R. - started to work with Twitter in January 2008. I decided to do it because I had already tried
twitter from my personal account and from there had things about working for Greenpeace and post links to news and activities of the organization.
Seeing the interest in analyzing and many businesses use this medium were quickly pulled out an account for Greenpeace and we began to twitter.
P. - In the time it does I'm on Twitter I have seen very few NGOs with an active account in this environment. Is it because it is the medium for the dissemination and communication of such organizations? R. - I do not think that's it. I think
is a tool with enormous potential for NGOs. The problem, in my opinion, is the lack of knowledge of this tool, and other style, by members of social organizations. As you get to know and discovering the benefits of the use of web2.0, incorporated organizations Twitter as part of their communication strategies, public involvement and fundraising (fundraising)
Q. - Are you including creation of this account within a broader communication strategy (blogs, facebook ...)? A. - Yes.
Greenpeace is active in several online communities and has several active blogs. For example, we highlight the blog
Argentina Greenpeace campaigns , a page on Facebook
and Sonic
group inviting them to join.
Q. - What do you hope to accomplish with your presence on Twitter, in particular, and social media in general? R. -
hope to establish a closer relationship with our partners, internet and mobile activists and new audiences that we want to reach with our message. This communication has the dual function of giving to these audiences the opportunity to participate more actively in our campaigns and the ability to make us more effective campaigns based on the participation of more people in them.
P. - There are two models clearly opposed the use of Twitter: use it as a disclosure or use it as a conversation. What is your strategy? R. - In principle we are using it as a news item published, but also read all the responses we received from those who follow us, whether publicly or privately and answer many of your requirements. This feedback, as explained above, it is taken into account when planning and evaluating our campaigns.
Q. - What will be your strategy for the dissemination and communication of your Twitter account? R. - Let's go gradually spreading it through our web site and through our list of cyber (800,000 people) who regularly receive our email alerts.
continue this account ... which incidentally is already included in the Registration of Marks
